Call for Papers

DAS 2026 is the 17th international IAPR-sponsored workshop dedicated towards state-of-the-art system-level approaches and related challenges in the domain of document analysis and recognition. Previously, DAS was held as a separate event. However, since 2024, DAS has been organised as a premier satellite workshop of the International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR). The 2026 edition will take place in Vienna, Austria. DAS 2026 provides a platform for researchers, practitioners, and enthusiasts to contribute to addressing the critical issues in practical document analysis systems. Through DAS 2026, we highlight the transformative power of document analysis technologies and encourage a forward-looking dialogue on their future trajectory in light of the advances of Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models, ensuring the workshop not only reflects the state of the art, but also inspires the next wave of technological advancements in document analysis systems.

Topics of Interest:

We cordially invite the submission of original, previously unpublished work on topics relevant to our workshop.

  • Document Analysis Systems and Architectures
  • Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Foundation Models for DAS
  • Document Understanding and Semantic Analysis
  • Document Reasoning
  • Camera-Based Document Analysis
  • Document Analysis for Digital Humanities
  • Document Analysis for Libraries and Archives
  • Document Analysis for Mobile Devices
  • Document Authentication, Forensics, and Security
  • Pen-Based Document Systems
  • Information Extraction and Document Retrieval
  • Layout, Structure, and Graphics Recognition
  • Mathematical Expression Recognition
  • Historical Document Systems
  • Web and Multimedia Document Systems
  • DAS in Architectural and Engineering Drawings
  • Datasets, Benchmarking, and Performance Evaluation
  • Industrial Applications and Case Studies
  • Human-in-the-Loop and Interactive Document Systems
  • Emerging Challenges, Ethics, and Future Directions

Submission Types:

Typically, the workshop covers invited speaker talks along with oral, poster, tutorial, demo sessions and working group discussions. DAS 2026 will accept contributions of the following types:

  • Full Papers: Full papers should describe complete works of original research in topics relevant to the workshop and should not exceed 17 pages (including figures and references). Accepted submissions will be presented during the workshop (orally or by poster) and published in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series.

  • Short Papers: Short papers provide an opportunity to report on research in progress, to present live applied demos and novel positions on document analysis systems. Accepted short papers must not exceed 8 pages (including figures and references) and will appear in an extra booklet (non-archived), not in the official proceedings.

  • Demos: As usual, DAS 2026 will host a demonstration session where participants can show their technologies and scientific contributions in a hands-on environment. The demos will be aligned with the poster sessions of the workshop, providing adequate time for interaction. In order to participate, interested personnel should submit a short paper not exceeding 6 pages overviewing the detailed technical specifications and practical aspects of the proposed demo. The paper should include detailed figures and descriptions highlighting how the demo works and its real-world applicability.

Authors of all accepted papers in the full or short paper category can also participate in the demonstration session by showcasing their research through demos. Additionally, participants with accepted papers in the main ICDAR conference can also present their work at the DAS demo session. In order to do so, authors must submit a brief supplementary document (up to 6 pages) focusing on the demo's technical specifications (with detailed figures and description), its real-world applicability, and any other technical details not covered in the main conference paper. Authors are requested to make sure that this document complements, without overlapping, the main submission to provide a clearer, fuller understanding of the research's practical implementation.

Instructions for Authors:

While preparing submission, please adhere to the following instructions:

  • All papers (full or short) must be formatted according to the instructions and style files provided by Springer. The LaTeX template for LNCS can be accessed from Overleaf.

  • Length of full papers must not exceed 17 pages (including figures and references) and that of short papers must not exceed 8 pages (same inclusion applies). Demo papers can be up to 6 pages in length.

  • All paper submissions (full/short/demo) will undergo double blind peer review.

  • Accepted full or short papers can be accompanied by live demos if authors desire. However, the authors must provide advance notice to make the necessary arrangements. Contact Demo Chair at ajoy.mondal@iiit.ac.in.

  • All papers must be submitted via the workshop's submission page, which will be published in this workshop's home page.

Registration

All regular full length papers accepted in DAS 2026 must be covered by a valid registration in order to be included in the workshop proceedings and scheduled for presentation. Registration is handled through the ICDAR 2026 registration system.

Each regular full length accepted paper requires at least one author to complete a Regular/Main Conference Registration by June 24, 2026. Please note that student registration alone is not sufficient for covering an accepted paper.

One regular registration may cover up to three papers by the same registered author, including both ICDAR 2026 main conference papers and DAS 2026 workshop papers.

At least one registered author must attend DAS 2026 in Vienna, Austria, and present the accepted paper during the workshop. Papers without a valid registration or without presentation may be excluded from the final workshop program and proceedings.

Authors are advised to complete the registration process as early as possible to avoid delays in paper inclusion, scheduling, and publication processing.
